Naruto TCG: TCGplayer Opens Promo Trading

TCGplayer sellers can list NCG promos as of today, with buying open September 28. For European collectors the route there stays expensive and unprotected.
TCGplayer flipped the switch today and barely said a word about it. As of September 22, sellers on the biggest TCG marketplace in the US can list NARUTO CARD GAME cards. Buying opens September 28.
Looks like catalog housekeeping. It isn’t.
The game doesn’t launch until summer 2027. What actually goes across the virtual counter next week is strictly the promos Bandai has handed out at events so far: the Chakra cards from Gen Con in late July, plus the Yankee Stadium card from September 8. Sealed product and regular singles arrive at official release, per TCGplayer. The marketplace also notes that NCG is the third Bandai title in this lineup, after the Digimon Card Game and the Gundam Card Game.

A Price Guide for a Game That Doesn’t Exist Yet
Until now these cards changed hands on eBay and StockX, platforms where a Naruto promo sits next to sneakers and concert tickets and nobody checks whether the card is real. Gen Con Chakra promos went for $1,000 to $1,200 there, bundles with a playmat and backpack up to $1,800. The Yankees card (CP-001, given to the first 18,000 fans at the game against the Rockies) landed around $600 to $700, occasionally $850 with the headband thrown in.
A marketplace with a clean catalog changes nothing about those prices, at least not right away. What it changes is something else. The card gets a product ID, a sales history, a mirror. Anyone who wanted a number before had to dig through expired eBay auctions and guess which ones were actual sales.
And the counterfeit problem isn’t some footnote here. Somebody on the subreddit asked flat out this week where to find a reliable list of every officially revealed NCG card, because so many fakes are floating around that he can’t tell anymore. An official catalog entry answers exactly that, at least for the handful of cards that exist.
What About Europe?
This is where it gets ugly. TCGplayer Direct ships internationally to Canada, Japan, and the UK. Germany isn’t on that list. Neither is the rest of the EU. Order from here and you end up with a package forwarder, which per TCGplayer’s own help pages strips buyer protection from the second leg of the trip. Replacements and refunds only cover the domestic hop to the US address.
Then add customs and import VAT. On a $700 card that’s a three-figure surcharge before the thing ever reaches your mailbox. Budget 800 euros and up for the Yankees promo if you actually want it sitting at home, and delivery still hangs on a forwarder nobody will call on your behalf when something goes wrong.
Honestly? This part frustrates me. Bandai has run a deliberately global campaign since June, from Jakarta through Taipei to SPIEL in Essen, and then the first orderly trading venue for the cards turns out to be a US marketplace that European collectors can only reach the long way around. We had this exact problem in Magic twenty years ago. That it still looks like this in 2026 was somebody’s decision.
What This Means for Cardmarket
The obvious question: when does Cardmarket open up? No official word so far. With the One Piece Card Game the category showed up roughly at the European sales launch, not eighteen months ahead of it, and for promos with no game attached there’s little reason to spin up a product line.
My read: nothing happens before spring 2027. Until then European NCG promo trading stays exactly what it is right now, which is classified ads, Discord servers, and trust. For cards in this price bracket that’s thin ground.
The timing isn’t accidental, by the way. Bandai’s next roadmap update lands October 10, New York Comic Con is around the corner, and the next promo wave drops there. Once a few thousand fresh Chakra cards hit the market, TCGplayer will already have the catalog standing. That’s bad news for first-wave prices. So if you want four figures for your Gen Con card, maybe don’t wait until November.
