Naruto TCG: Singapore Opens With the Wrong Link

Acceptance letters start going out today, and what they buy you is a seat at a demo table. Anyone who applied between August 10 and August 24 for the NARUTO CARD GAME Teaching Session at BANDAI CARD GAMES Fest in Jakarta learns from September 10 whether the draw picked them. There’s no precedent for this. Somewhere in Indonesia a person is staring at a phone right now knowing they get to play the first official NCG session held anywhere outside Gen Con.

Tomorrow, September 11, two more windows swing open. Bangkok and Singapore.

Nine Days Later, the Button Still Points to Jakarta

Earlier this month I wrote here that Singapore’s application button on the official Fest page goes nowhere useful. It points at bandai-tcg-plus.com/series/8080. That series ID belongs to the Jakarta lottery, which shut on August 24. A copy-paste slip like that gets patched in ten minutes, I figured.

Nope. I pulled the page up again today, less than twenty-four hours before applications open. Same 8080.

So what happens in practice? Anyone who clicks the Singapore button tomorrow morning lands on an expired draw for a different city. No 404, no warning, nothing that says wrong window, friend. Just a page where none of the buttons do anything anymore. And because the link looks correct, a few people are going to walk away convinced that signups already closed.

For a publisher planning a worldwide launch in 2027, that’s a rough look. Bandai is building the funnel that the first few thousand players are supposed to enter the game through, and the funnel has a hole in it right where the label says „click here.“

The Longest Window Yet, and the Longest Wait

Singapore’s other details are documented cleanly enough. Applications run September 11 through October 12, thirty-two days, the most generous window any city has gotten so far (Jakarta had fourteen). Acceptances land from November 5. The sessions run December 5 and 6.

Do the math on that. Worst case you wait almost eight weeks between applying and hearing back, then another four before the event itself. Anyone hoping for a spontaneous trip is planning a quarter of a year ahead for a tutorial round played with loaner decks. Bangkok runs in parallel, with sessions on November 21 and 22.

Sitting on top of all that is the hurdle every one of the seven Asian cities shares. Without a verified face photo in the BANDAI TCG+ app you can’t even apply, and Bandai says outright that verification may take „one week or longer.“ Start uploading a photo tomorrow and you already have a problem with Bangkok’s shorter window. For the Kage Bunshin crowd: one account, one face, one session per person. Stamping out multiple entries is the entire reason the photo requirement exists.

What About Europe?

Quick reassurance if you’re eyeing SPIEL Essen in October: none of this lottery machinery touches you. Essen takes registrations on site. No portal, no draw, no face scan. What’s still missing there is a booth number and session times. Different problem, different post.

My theory is that the 8080 link gets swapped out quietly sometime tomorrow, once someone in community management makes enough noise about it. The typo itself doesn’t bother me much. Typos happen. What’s wild is that it survived nine days while several fan sites had already documented it. Details like that tell you how thin the staffing behind a global rollout actually is.
