Naruto TCG: Singapore Finally Points at Singapore

On September 3 I promised I’d check back on the 11th. It’s the 11th. I checked. The sign-up button for the NCG tutorial session in Singapore now actually points at Singapore, and Bangkok, which had no button at all until yesterday, got its own one today.

If you missed the first round: in late August, Bandai put up the pages for the Asian stops of BANDAI CARD GAMES Fest 26-27. The Singapore page had a NARUTO sign-up link that went to series 8080 in the BANDAI TCG+ system. That’s Jakarta. And Jakarta’s application window had closed on August 24. Bangkok had the sign-up text but nothing underneath it. Both looked like a copy-paste job done in a hurry, and my bet back then was that it would get fixed before registration opened.

It did. Right on the day. Not a minute earlier.

Series 8408 instead of 8080

The Singapore page got a full refresh today. All seven tournament pages (One Piece, Digimon, Dragon Ball Fusion World, Gundam, Union Arena, Battle Spirits, and NARUTO) now carry a September 11 date stamp plus the pre-registration notice. The NARUTO button leads to series 8408, an ID that belongs to Singapore and nobody else. What sits behind it inside the BANDAI TCG+ system I can’t verify from outside (the app pages return nothing without a login), but the Fest page itself leaves no room for doubt.

The facts as listed: the teaching session runs December 5 and 6 at Sands Expo Convention Centre. Applications are open from September 11 through October 12, with acceptances going out from November 5. There are 192 seats in total. Everyone who takes part gets the CP-001 Chakra Card, the same promo as in every other city.

192 seats. Two days. A city of six million people. How do you think that lottery is going to go?

Bangkok only went live today

Bangkok is a slightly different story. Going by its date stamp, the Thai Fest site only got the „NARUTO CARD GAME TOURNAMENTS“ page today. Until then, all you had was a note saying you’d need to apply. Now it’s all there: session on November 21 and 22 at The Mall Lifestore Bangkapi, application window from September 11 through October 4, acceptances from October 22. The link goes to series 8388. No seat count on the page.

So Bangkok closes eight days before Singapore does, even though its session is two weeks earlier. Which fits the pattern. Bandai apparently needs roughly three weeks between deadline and acceptance no matter which city you look at: Jakarta was 17 days (August 24 to September 10), Bangkok is 18, Singapore is 24.

One detail from the Thai text I haven’t seen spelled out this plainly on any other city page: face photo verification in the app can take up to a week, so apply early. Minors can take part with their own accounts. Translation: if you start uploading your photo on October 3, you’ve got a problem.

What this means for Essen and London

For those of us in Germany this is spectator sport, obviously. It’s still the best look we have at the process headed our way. The London page for the NARUTO session says nothing but „Details will be updated in the future,“ dated August 28. If London copies the Asian playbook, expect the BANDAI TCG+ app, a verified face photo, a lottery, and three weeks of waiting. Want to play at ExCeL in January? You can upload the photo now. Costs nothing, might save you a week.

So how do I rate those eight days? Two readings, and honestly both hold up. A wrong link on a page that isn’t taking applications yet hurts nobody, at least at first. Bandai delivered exactly on opening day, and the page is cleaner now than it was. Then again, it took eight days, with the error sitting in plain view in the community and on this site. For a company spinning up seven cities at once, that’s probably just what normal looks like. For players in Singapore who’ve been landing on the wrong page since late August, it was two weeks of confusion for no reason.

And one more thing about those series numbers, because I spend too much time on this stuff: 8080 for Jakarta, 8388 for Bangkok, 8408 for Singapore. The numbers go up. That’s all they tell you. My theory: Bangkok’s series was created before Singapore’s. Bangkok was merely missing the link on the page, Singapore had the wrong one. Two different mistakes, same result.
