New York Comic Con hosts the "NARUTO: What's Next?" panel on October 10, and the blurb names the NARUTO CARD GAME outright while promising a new roadmap. Twelve days before SPIEL Essen, that is the date to plan around.

There’s been an entry sitting on the New York Comic Con program page since August 19, and almost nobody covering the NCG has stopped to look at it: „NARUTO: What’s Next?“, Saturday, October 10, 5 to 6 p.m. local time, Empire Stage at the Javits Center. For those of us in Central Europe, that’s 11 p.m.

The blurb is the interesting part, because it names the card game outright:

„Get the latest updates on the anime, the NARUTO CARD GAME, and other exciting new projects. Plus, be among the first to see the new roadmap for the future of the NARUTO universe!“

A new roadmap. That’s the phrase doing the work here.

The current roadmap is six weeks old and frozen

What we’ve got dates from July 29, one day before the Gen Con debut. Worldwide release „Summer 2027“, plus the event list leading up to it. No price. No set name. Nothing on language editions, nothing on European distribution. For the whole of September the official site carries not a single entry, even though five fest sign-up windows run this month and the first promo card goes out at Yankee Stadium on September 8.

SPIEL Essen opens twelve days after the panel. Hold on to that arithmetic, because it decides how much we know when we walk into Hall 5. If a date or a price range drops on October 10, we hear it beforehand. If nothing drops, Essen gives us the same tutorial round New York gets, a Chakra card as a souvenir, and a release that still reads „Summer 2027“.

Who is on that stage tells you something

Junko Takeuchi and Noriaki Sugiyama are confirmed, the Japanese voices of Naruto and Sasuke. Pure fan service, sure. Except October 10 also happens to be Naruto’s birthday, and the front page of naruto-official.com has been running a countdown since mid-August that links straight to this panel listing. Nobody hangs a countdown on a routine schedule note.

One caveat, though. This is a VIZ Media franchise panel, not an NCG panel. Anime first, „other exciting new projects“ somewhere in the middle, and the card game shares the hour with everything else. Why would a franchise panel be the place to name display prices? Anyone expecting 60 minutes of card mechanics is planning against the format.

Two practical things are still open. The panel requires a reservation, and how those get handed out is written down nowhere so far. Whether it’ll be streamed, nobody has said either. (At 11 p.m. CEST that’s the difference between watching it live on a Saturday night and reading recaps on Sunday morning.)

The booth itself does not change

The NCG stands at booth #2705 in New York from October 8 through 11. Free tutorial sessions, on-site sign-up, one session per person for the entire con, demo decks stay on the table. Register in the NARUTO TCG channel of the BANDAI TCG+ app, fill out the survey afterwards, and you get the CP-001 Chakra Card plus a logo sticker, one per person. The official playmat runs $35 plus tax, limited quantities daily, and ships in 2027.

For Europe, the rest of the calendar sits behind that date. Paris Games Week and SPIEL Essen both run October 22 to 25, Lucca follows from October 28 to November 1, and pre-registration for BANDAI CARD GAMES Fest in London (January 15 to 17, 2027, ExCeL) opens October 25 at 9 a.m. GMT. All of it lands after October 10. Plan around the panel, in other words.

What is realistically on the table

My read: no release date down to the day. What I do consider realistic is the first set’s name, a few more cards than the handful from Gen Con, and maybe a launch month. Bandai released One Piece Card Game information in slices, always late enough for the preorder wave to hit at the right moment, and rarely early enough for German retailers to do honest math. So far the NCG dramaturgy looks identical.

A ninja doesn’t show his hand signs in advance either. Still, one sentence about EU availability would be the bare minimum when three European conventions land in the same month.

What’s your call: set name and a handful of cards, or do they go straight for date and price?
