Bandai published booth number, dates and session rules for NARUTO CARD GAME at New York Comic Con. For Essen in October, that's the best preview available right now.
Bandai put out a booth number for New York Comic Con: #2705. Reads like paperwork. It’s the first stop after the Gen Con premiere where we actually know, ahead of time, how a NARUTO CARD GAME session is going to run.
The basics, straight off the official NCG site: October 8 through 11, 2026, Javits Center, 429 11th Avenue, New York. Tutorial Sessions cost nothing on top of your badge, and registration happens on site.
Earlier coverage: NYCC and PAX Get Details, Essen Waits (August 10)
The Fine Print at Booth 2705
You play with demo decks, and those decks stay with the staff when you get up. Nothing goes home in your bag. Sit down for a session, though, and you do walk away with something: the CP-001 Chakra Card plus a logo sticker.
Not quite free, mind you. Bandai ties that participant gift to a registration in the „NARUTO TCG UPDATES CHANNEL“ on the BANDAI TCG+ app, plus a survey you fill out once your round is over. Then comes the rule that’s going to annoy people more than all the app-signup hoops put together: one session per person for the whole convention. Four days of con. One shot.
There’s also the one object this game has attached a price tag to so far. The „NARUTO CARD GAME Official Playmat -Arriving in 2027-“ runs $35 (+tax), one per person, with limited daily quantities.
Melbourne gets nearly the same package at nearly the same time. PAX Aus runs October 9 through 11 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in South Wharf, also with a Tutorial Session, CP-001, sticker and playmat at the same price. Add BANDAI CARD GAMES Fest in Jakarta (October 10 and 11) and Bandai is running demo tables on three continents over one weekend. Which is wild when you remember not one product has hit retail yet.
Why New York Matters to Europe
Europe isn’t forgotten this round. Just further back in the queue. SPIEL Essen runs October 22 through 25, roughly two weeks after the New York and Melbourne double. Details for that stop? Barely any so far.
Which is exactly why the New York terms are worth more than a footnote from over here. Bandai runs these tour formats off a template. Anyone who followed One Piece or Union Arena knows the drill: the event sheets for con A and con B differ mostly in the place name. New York and Melbourne got word-for-word identical announcements. So why would Essen be the one that breaks the pattern?
My take: if you’re going to Essen in October and you want a round of NCG, install the TCG+ app and subscribe to the Naruto channel before you leave the house, rather than fighting the dead Wi-Fi zone inside a packed exhibition hall. That part you can knock out from your couch. The rest is standing in line, and „on-site registration“ means exactly one thing in practice, which is showing up early. No shadow clone is holding your spot.
What bugs me about the one-session rule isn’t the rule itself. It’s what it tells you about capacity. Bandai clearly expects way more interest than it has seats. For a game that doesn’t launch worldwide until 2027, with a rules skeleton (Leader card, 51 cards in the deck, 5 Chakra cards, one Summon card) public since the late-July reveal, the crowd is entirely predictable. A demo round is the only way to touch this thing at all right now.
For readers in Germany the math stays sober. The $35 playmat is confirmed for New York and Melbourne, not for Essen. And even if it does turn up here, conversion plus VAT usually lands you closer to 35 to 40 euros than to a straight dollar rate. Bandai merch at European conventions has never been a bargain, let’s be honest about that.
So the open question, and it answers itself by the end of October: does Essen get the same package, or a stripped-down version? My guess is the same package, two weeks later, announced with less lead time. Anyone here planning the trip to Essen, and would you queue up for a single demo round?
