Naruto TCG: NYCC and PAX Get Details, Essen Waits

On August 7 Bandai quietly dropped three things onto the official NCG site. Exactly one of them got any airtime, the NARUTO Night at Yankee Stadium. The other two are much duller and, if you actually want to touch this game with your own hands, much more useful: the event pages for New York Comic Con and PAX Aus. First time we get anything concrete about what goes on at the booth.

Pages like these tell you more about a launch than a trailer ever will.

Booth #2705, a promo, and a sticker

NYCC runs October 8 through 11 at the Javits Center in Manhattan, Bandai sits at booth #2705. PAX Aus takes place October 9 through 11 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. Both booths run basically the identical program, which to me reads like Bandai shipping one standardized convention package rather than improvising a new one per continent.

Tutorial sessions cost nothing beyond your badge. You register on site, on the day. No online pre-booking. Demo decks stay at the booth, so no, you can’t take one home. And then there’s the line I genuinely had to read twice: one session per person for the entire convention. Not per day. Play Thursday and you are not getting back in that queue on Saturday.

Everyone who plays walks off with a CP-001 Chakra Card and a logo sticker. One per person, and Bandai spells it right out: regardless of how many sessions you reserve or attend. Somebody in that building clearly still remembers the queue-farming tricks from the early One Piece days.

That sticker costs you your email address

There is a catch, and it’s an administrative one rather than a mechanical one. Participation gifts only go to people registered to the „NARUTO TCG UPDATES CHANNEL“ on BANDAI TCG+ who also fill out a post-session survey. The PAX page tacks on that the logo sticker also goes to anyone following the official social accounts or signing up for that same TCG+ channel.

Nothing sinister here, it’s the standard playbook. Bandai is building a list before launch, the kind you later use to size print runs and time regional rollouts. Worth saying out loud anyway: the „free“ promo is paid for with contact data. Going in October? Get the TCG+ registration done at home. Creating an account on wobbly convention wifi with thirty people breathing down your neck is nobody’s idea of fun.

There’s merch as well: an official playmat, MSRP 35 US dollars plus tax, shipping in 2027. One per person, plus daily quantity limits at the booth. A US dollar figure is not a European price announcement and I really don’t want that misread. Where Bandai lands on this side of the Atlantic, nobody knows yet. I’ve watched Bandai accessories go both ways, converted fairly and marked up hard.

And Essen? Radio silence so far

Here’s the bit that hits closest to home for us. In the July 29 roadmap reveal, Bandai listed SPIEL Essen as a stop, next to Paris Games Week and Lucca. SPIEL runs October 22 to 25, 2026, filling all eight halls of Messe Essen for the first time, roughly 81,200 square meters. A European TCG debut does not get a bigger stage than that.

Only there’s no Essen event page. NYCC has one. PAX Aus has one. Essen is still a line in a press release. Between „we’ll be there“ and „booth 2705, tutorial, CP-001, here are the rules“ sits a genuine pile of operational work.

Should we panic? Nah. SPIEL sits two weeks after NYCC, and Bandai is pretty obviously sequencing its convention comms in calendar order. My read: the Essen page shows up in late September or early October, built exactly like the other two. One session per person, CP-001 in exchange for TCG+ registration, playmat with a daily cap.

What I’m shakier on is whether the promo keeps the same name in Essen. CP-001 keeps popping up in different contexts, most recently in a Yankees version built for a baseball stadium. Bandai seems to treat that card as a platform for variants instead of a single print. For collectors that means the pull lives in the story behind each version, less in the card itself.

We still know very little, and it shows

For all the convention calendar, what we know about the actual game stays thin. We have the skeleton: a Leader card, 51 cards in the deck, five Chakra Cards, one Summon Card, knock the opposing Leader’s Life to zero. Card types are Leader, Character, EX Character, Chakra, and Summon.

The gaps show up beautifully in what the community is asking right now. Over on r/NarutoCardGame, somebody wants to know whether event cards will exist the way they do in the One Piece Card Game:

„my question is will there be event cards like in the one piece tcg? I’m not sure because there haven’t been any revealed and not in the game rules if i remember“

Completely fair question eight weeks into the announcement, and not one person on earth can answer it. Bandai has the next substantial info drop pencilled in for December 2026, in-store tutorials follow in January 2027, worldwide release in summer 2027.

Cleanly paced plan. Also a brutally long dry spell. A year of lead time on drip-fed information only works if the drips actually carry weight, and two event pages with booth numbers aren’t substance, they’re logistics. Useful logistics. Still logistics.
