The NARUTO CARD GAME doesn't ship until Summer 2027, yet people are already playing: several fan-made simulators are live in the browser, ranked matchmaking included. Meanwhile Bandai has event details for everywhere except Europe.

A card game that ships in Summer 2027. A few dozen cards shown officially. No starters, no boosters, no price tag, and not one retailer on the planet who could sell you anything.

And people are sitting in front of a browser right now, playing ranked.

That’s where the NARUTO CARD GAME stands a week after Gen Con. Yesterday Bandai dropped three new items on the official site: event details for New York Comic Con, event details for PAX Australia, and a collaboration with the New York Yankees. All solid. All concrete. All very far from Europe.

So the community went and solved the waiting problem by itself.

Three Simulators for a Game Nobody Owns

Search „Naruto Card Game Simulator“ today and you don’t land on one fan project. You land on a pile of them. narutotcgsim.com runs the game right in your browser with ranked matchmaking, and the site calls itself „a fan-made project built by the community, for the community“. No download, no account, no purchase. The disclaimer is refreshingly blunt:

„It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the official Naruto or Naruto Trading Card Game rights holders.“

Sitting right next to it is narutocardgamesimulator.com, which is a much deeper build: deckbuilder, collection management, sealed mode, leaderboards, tournaments, its own Discord. The footer says „Unofficial simulator“ and leaves it at that. Registration is mandatory over there. And then you’ve got narutosim.com with a simulator, a deckbuilder and a searchable card list.

Shadow clone technique, except for card game clients.

A video doing the rounds on Reddit two days ago showed off yet another sim, posted by u/AnnualMoose4590 under the title „Bats made a naruto card game sim, link in the video“. Content creator UCHI commented dryly on X that he’d check it out once the starter decks are added.

Once the starter decks are added. For a game whose starter decks exist precisely nowhere.

What Bandai Actually Announced Yesterday

Some hard numbers from the new posts, because they explain a lot about the why.

At New York Comic Con (October 8 to 11, Javits Center, booth 2705) there are free tutorial sessions. On-site registration, one session per person for the whole event. Participants get a CP-001 Chakra Card and a logo sticker, but only if they’ve joined the „NARUTO TCG UPDATES CHANNEL“ on TCG+ and fill out a post-session survey. One prize per person. There’s also an official playmat at $35 plus tax that doesn’t ship until 2027.

At PAX Aus (October 9 to 11, MCEC Melbourne) it’s the exact same package, plus one extra line that says plenty about the current market: the demo decks cannot be taken home.

Then on September 8 Yankee Stadium hosts „NARUTO Night“, where a CP-001 Chakra Card in a New York Yankees version gets handed out. The print run was originally 18,000 and has reportedly been raised to 40,000. Ticket prices for this one baseball game went vertical anyway: neighboring dates sit around $10, while the cheapest way in on September 8 runs about $115.

You can see where this is heading. Bandai is handing out free cards that nobody can play, because the game doesn’t exist. Part of the audience is treating them like assets regardless. Resell Calendar reports the Gen Con promos trading on eBay between $1,000 and $1,200, with confirmed sales behind those numbers rather than wishful asking prices.

When the only card you can physically get instantly goes four figures, somebody who just wants to play a game has exactly one option left. A browser tab.

Proxies, Printers and the Format Question

It doesn’t stop at simulators either. Over in the NCG subreddit, u/Acceptable_Step_3822 was fishing for printer recommendations:

„Hi I’m looking to make proxy demodecks of Naruto card game from bandai and it’s interested in using a 2×3 printer what are some recommendations that could be portable since I tend to travel quite a bit“

Somebody wants to rebuild the demo decks and carry them around. While traveling. For a game with no release.

Honestly? That’s the most interesting data point of the week. Not the promo prices, not the Yankees stunt. The fact that people are sinking time and money into a portable printer so they can play an unreleased card game at the kitchen table. That doesn’t happen at every launch. It happens at the rare ones where the rules just click on first read.

And the rules have been public enough since July 29 to rebuild from: leader card, 51 cards in the deck, 5 chakra cards, 1 summon card, knock the opposing leader’s life to zero. Anyone who knows One Piece spots the skeleton instantly. Which is exactly why the sim builders had something playable inside a week instead of guessing at it for months.

What This Means Over Here

For the German-speaking corner, this is currently the only realistic way to touch the NCG at all. Gen Con was in Indianapolis, NYCC is in New York, PAX is in Melbourne, and for Spiel Essen (October 22 to 25) there is still no dedicated info page on the official site. Same story for Paris Games Week and Lucca. Bandai appears to be working through the event details in order, and Europe just isn’t up yet.

So: roughly two and a half months until Essen with no official hands-on anywhere within reach. Whether Essen gets the same CP-001 plus sticker, and whether TCG+ behaves itself with a German account, nobody can tell you right now.

One word of caution on the simulators, because it belongs here. These are unlicensed fan projects. They can vanish the day Bandai’s legal department wakes up. One Piece clients got tolerated for a long stretch; with other publishers it ended a whole lot faster. Don’t sink a collection you care about into one, and don’t hand over data you wouldn’t hand to a random Discord bot.

Here’s the bit I find most interesting. The sim crowd is testing matchups Bandai hasn’t publicly balanced yet. When the next details land in December and store tutorials kick off in January, Bandai walks into a community that already holds firm opinions about card combinations that don’t officially exist. My theory: that gets a lot more uncomfortable for Bandai than they’d like.

Naruto trained for years before the Rasengan came together. This community is starting a full year before release.

Have you tried any of the simulators yet? And if you have, does it feel like a game you’ll actually spend money on in 2027, or like a decent way to kill an evening?
