Bandai's official retailer list for the NARUTO CARD GAME names six European distributors. One of them is headquartered in Ratingen and has carried Bandai product for years.

The date has been nailed down since late July: summer 2027, worldwide launch. But if you run or shop at a German card store, a different question matters a lot more right now. Whose warehouse does the product actually come through?

There’s an answer. It didn’t arrive with a fanfare. It’s sitting in a plain retailer list on the official NCG site, the kind of page nobody clicks. Under the heading EUROPE, Bandai names six distributors. One of them sits in Ratingen.

A North Rhine-Westphalia Name in the Supply Plan

ADC Blackfire Entertainment GmbH. Anybody who’s spent more than two weeks loitering in a German hobby store knows that name off the boxes in the stockroom. Blackfire is a B2B distributor, says it supplies thousands of retailers across EMEA out of its Ratingen headquarters, and has carried Bandai product for years. For the NARUTO CARD GAME the company now shows up on Bandai’s own retailer page, sitting right next to Asmodee UK, Asmodee Nordics, Asmodee Netherlands, Italy’s Gametrade Distribuzione and TCG Factory.

One caveat belongs here and I’m not going to bury it in a footnote. Bandai doesn’t break the Europe list down by country. North America gets that treatment (USA and Canada are listed separately), Europe sits in one single regional block. So the page never actually says who supplies which market. Blackfire is simply the only entry headquartered in Germany. Strong signal? Sure. A contract I’ve read? No.

Asmodee Got the Press Release Out First

Running alongside all this, Asmodee announced on July 30 that the NARUTO CARD GAME is joining its Bandai portfolio. Distribution is set for the European Economic Area, covering hobby retailers, specialty retailers and mass market retailers. Marjolein Lubberman, Chief Commercial Officer at asmodee, is quoted:

„We’re proud to add the NARUTO CARD GAME to our portfolio of games published by our fantastic partners.“

What’s missing from that release is the interesting bit. Asmodee talks about the entire EEA, yet the only Asmodee entities on Bandai’s list are UK, Nordics and Netherlands. No Asmodee Germany anywhere. Both things can be true at once if Asmodee holds the framework deal while individual markets get served through other partners. One Piece and Dragon Ball Super have run through a similarly tangled setup in Europe for years, so nobody should be shocked.

For you as a player that mostly boils down to one thing. There is no single bottleneck. Two big logistics operations instead of one exclusive partner who can dry out an entire continent the moment a restock slips.

Why a Boring List Matters

I watched the One Piece launch in Germany mostly from the sidelines, played a bit of it, never got properly hooked. The memory that stuck has nothing to do with game mechanics. It has to do with empty shelves, shops rationing one display per customer, and scalper pricing on the products that were supposed to be the on-ramp. I’ve known that pattern from Magic for decades, except there the chain is so well worn that a shortage is usually a reprint problem rather than a structural failure.

A new TCG lives or dies in its first six months on whether people can walk in and buy in. If the shop down the road gets nothing in summer 2027 because the preorder windows were tight, the game loses exactly the casual players it needs most. Bandai manufactures in Japan, and for its existing card games the retailer order windows land roughly six months ahead of release. Count backwards from summer 2027. Whether your store has stock in launch month gets decided somewhere around New Year.

Which is where the next piece slots in. The retailer page carries a line saying that information on how a shop becomes a Bandai TCG+ store and carries the NARUTO CARD GAME is coming „soon.“ TCG+ is Bandai’s tournament and store platform, already running for One Piece, Dragon Ball Super, Digimon, Union Arena and Gundam (store locator, event signup, pairings, tournament kits). No TCG+ hookup means no organized play, and no organized play means no reason on earth for a store to reserve shelf space.

The Road to the Shelf

The stages are reasonably clear by now. Through the fall the game tours the big conventions, including SPIEL Essen from October 22 to 25. In January 2027 the tutorial sessions are supposed to move into stores, running alongside the Bandai Card Games Fest for the 26-27 season. Then the release in summer.

Those January in store tutorials are the real test from a trade perspective. A shop demoing in January needs demo product, which needs a distributor who ships, which means the chain has to be standing by then. Is that realistic for a title landing half a year later? Bandai pulled off a comparable runway with Gundam, so yes, assuming nobody drops the ball.

Here’s my read. Blackfire being on board is the best news German players have gotten about this game in weeks, and almost nobody reported it. Wild, honestly. A distributor with a German warehouse and German support meaningfully shortens the trip from container to counter. Unglamorous, sure, never shows up in a trailer, and it still helps decide whether you can buy a starter deck in summer 2027 or end up on a waiting list.

Ninjas work in the shadows, so the saying goes. Apparently so do the people deciding whether your local shop gets stock.

Next time you’re in your local store, ask whether Blackfire or Asmodee has come knocking about the NARUTO CARD GAME yet. That information is worth more right now than another card reveal, and if you hear something, drop it in the comments.
