Naruto TCG in Essen: New Hall, One Open Date

There’s been exactly one German date sitting in Bandai’s official NARUTO CARD GAME roadmap since July 29: Spiel Essen 2026, October 22 to 25. It’s the only stop this year that lands anywhere near German players. New York Comic Con, PAX Australia, Lucca, all fine, none of them a train ride from Cologne.

And now the convention itself went and changed the terrain. If you’re heading to Essen for card games, you want to know this before you book.

The card game floor moves to Hall 5

In 2025 the trading card games sat in halls 1 and 2. For 2026 the whole TCG section packs up and moves to Hall 5. A new north entrance opens right into it, which cuts the walk for everybody who isn’t there to browse family board games. Anyone who’s ever stood in the Saturday morning queue in Essen knows what a second entrance is worth. Roughly: everything.

The show is swelling, too. Spiel 2026 takes over all eight exhibition halls plus the Galeria for the first time, roughly 81,200 square meters in total. Some context on what that has to swallow: 2025 drew 948 exhibitors from 50 nations and around 220,000 visitors. According to the organizer, stand space was fully allocated before the regular registration deadline even closed, and latecomers landed on a waiting list.

One catch, though. This hall layout is provisional until further notice.

September 3 is the date that actually matters

None of it goes binding until the organizer switches on the interactive hall plans and the exhibitor list. That’s scheduled for September 3, 2026. Only then can anybody look up whether Bandai Card Games has its own booth in Hall 5, how big it is, and whether there’ll be tables for Tutorial Sessions or just a display case with some artwork in it.

Bandai has kept quiet on that. The official NCG site says exactly this much about the world tour:

„Tutorial Sessions will be held at events around the world!“

There’s precisely one place where the wording gets specific, and it isn’t Germany. For New York Comic Con, October 8 to 11, Bandai flat out promises fresh information („More new information will be revealed at New York Comic Con!“). Essen gets a location and a date. That’s the whole entry.

My read: the big reveal happens in New York, and Essen gets the demo tables. Which is the usual pattern, not a disaster. Bandai ran the One Piece Card Game more or less the same way, US stage first, then Europe with hands-on time instead of headlines. And honestly? Getting the cards in your hands still beats any trailer.

Two European stops on the same weekend

Lay the roadmap out side by side and it gets interesting. Paris Games Week runs October 22 to 25. Exactly parallel to Essen. Bandai is covering both. Lucca Comics & Games follows October 28 to November 1.

For a game that doesn’t launch until Summer 2027, that’s a serious European push. Three countries in ten days, plus BANDAI CARD GAMES Fest 26-27 running across eleven cities worldwide from October onward. Anybody still claiming Europe got shortchanged on the NCG slept through July 29.

What comes after interests me more. December 2026 is supposed to bring further information. From January 2027 the Tutorial Sessions roll out at retail, so in stores, not at conventions. If German shops are in that wave, then Essen 2026 is the dress rehearsal and your actual first contact with the game shows up four months later at your local table.

Why it stays in my calendar anyway

We’re talking about a card game announced on June 18, complete with an original illustration from Masashi Kishimoto. What we know about the rules is a skeleton: a Leader card, a 51-card deck, 5 Chakra cards, 1 Summon card. Reads like One Piece DNA with its own resource system on top. But without actually playing it, that’s tea leaves.

Which is the whole argument for Essen. One table, one demo deck, twenty minutes against somebody who’s already played it, and you walk away knowing more than any trailer will ever teach you. Same thing happened to me with the Cyberpunk TCG. On paper the resource system read like a mess. Two turns in at the table, obvious that it works.

Until then, waiting. Very Kakashi, only with a convention ticket.
