Bandai is handing out the first physical NCG card at Yankee Stadium on September 8: the CP-001 Chakra Card, New York Yankees Ver. The secondary market is already trading it in the hundreds, and Europe gets nothing.

The first NARUTO CARD GAME card an ordinary human being actually holds in their hands won’t come from a card shop. It’ll come from a turnstile in the Bronx.

Bandai confirmed NARUTO Night at Yankee Stadium on the official NCG site: on September 8, 2026, when the New York Yankees host the Colorado Rockies, fans get the CP-001 Chakra Card – New York Yankees Ver. The official wording doesn’t dress it up: „A NARUTO CARD GAME ‚CHAKRA Card‘ featuring the Yankees logo will be distributed at ‚NARUTO x YANKEES GAME NIGHT‘ on September 8.“ So: the same Chakra card they’ve been handing out at the convention tutorials, with a baseball logo on it. A Major League Baseball team. On a ninja card. Sit with that for a second.

One Card, 45,000 People, and a Turnstile

The Yankees have the game on their promo schedule now, tagged „Presented by Bandai,“ which is the bit that made the link to the upcoming card game official. The original announcement said the first 18,000 fans through the gates. Multiple reports say the print run got bumped to 40,000 afterward, presumably because demand went vertical long before anyone had thrown a first pitch.

Yankee Stadium holds roughly 45,000. Do that math yourself.

Which is where the whole thing gets messy, because a gate giveaway isn’t distribution. It’s a raffle with a queue attached. There are reports of stadium staff sending fans who hold multiple tickets back around to a different gate, so nobody walks off with five cards in a single pass. Will that survive a sold-out game night in September? I doubt it.

$600 for a Piece of Cardboard That Doesn’t Exist Yet

The secondary market didn’t wait around for September. eBay presale listings ran for weeks before the game, and the numbers are absurd: reports cite completed sales in the $600 to $700 range, and bundles that include the Naruto headband going as high as $850. Other trackers put the card by itself north of $800.

Those are marketplace asking and sale prices, not official values. They also applied to an object whose artwork hadn’t been shown yet when the first sales cleared. People paid triple digits for a picture they had literally never seen. Wild.

Ticket prices came along for the ride, naturally. Seats that went for $30 in the spring now start north of $140, and the Yankees are selling their own packages with the card guaranteed (headband included).

If any of this feels new to you, you haven’t been paying attention to Bandai this year. The Dodgers ran the identical play on July 2 with a One Piece Card Game promo. Ungraded copies were pushing $1,000 inside of a day, and a PSA 10 slab reportedly cleared $3,800. Bandai knows this playbook cold, and the playbook works. Sitting in a marketing chair, it’s genuinely brilliant. Maximum visibility, pocket change in cost, hype that feeds off itself.

Sitting in a player’s chair, it reads like something else entirely. The very first physical card of a game meant to launch worldwide in Summer 2027 is a speculation asset before anyone has ever cast it. My honest take: that sticks to a TCG far longer than Bandai would like it to. I’ve spent close to three decades around Magic, and I know exactly what it looks like when collector prices own the story before a single person has built a deck.

And Us Over Here? We Watch.

For those of us in Germany, the Yankees card is precisely what the Gen Con promos already were: news about a thing we can’t reach. No import path. No substitute. No European equivalent announced.

Europe’s leg of the roadmap does exist, it just looks different. Spiel Essen from October 22 to 25, Paris Games Week in that same window, Lucca Comics & Games from October 28 to November 1. Tutorial sessions all over the place, which means actual games rather than collecting. What gets handed out at any of them is still unannounced, and Essen is still missing the detail pages that New York Comic Con and PAX Australia have had up for a while now.

What I’d love is for Bandai to try something in Essen that isn’t the American stadium routine. Give people a promo card they earn at the table after playing a match, instead of at the entrance for showing up early. It isn’t rocket science. Other publishers ran European conventions that way for years.

Until then we’re stuck in the role Naruto had back at the academy: watching everyone else take the exam, quietly practicing in the meantime. On September 8 the Bronx fills up, 40,000 Chakra cards move through the turnstiles, and a chunk of them will be sitting on eBay by nightfall.

So are you going to chase one on the secondary market, or wait it out for the regular 2027 release?
